Pasaia and surroundings
Pasaia. Fishing and seafaring village, where whale-hunting, trade and the shipyards are still present as it is shown by Ondartxo, Centre of Maritime Culture, where the visitor will observe how shipwrights build the replica of an old boat, using techniques transmitted from generation to generation. Outstanding sea gastronomy and buildings with great architectural and historical importance, like the hermitage of Santa Ana, the church of San Juan Bautista, the wayside shrine of La Piedad, the Victor Hugo house, the birth house of the sailor Blas de Lezo and the Graveyard of San Pedro, which preserves the romanesque and gothic façades of the original 1457 parish church, declared Historic Monuments by the Ministry of Culture.
The pilgrims of the Road to Santiago should go by these façades on their way to Donostia-San Sebastián
